olive oil. 

olive oil is rich in omega fatty acids capable of penetrating the skin to deliver key nutrients. olive oil contains the antioxidant vitamin e, as well as polyphenols which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

mango seed butter.

mango butter is obtained from the kernels of the mango fruit. it has high levels of omega fatty acids, vitamin a, and vitamin e. when used topically, it helps to nourish skin and boost elasticity. it's ideal for use on dry, damaged, and aging skin.

Centella extract.

sourced from Madagascar and India, this antioxidant is a medicinal herb widely used in the treatment of skin diseases and wound healing. scientific studies show that topical application of Centella asiatica on wounds increases the rate of healing by stimulating the production of type I collagen. it also contains bioactive compounds with anti-inflammatory activity, and has been used to treat burns, ulcers, and to prevent scar formation.

argan oil.

the argan tree is native to southwest Morocco. the seeds are rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids, tocopherol, phytosterols, and triterpene alcohols. argan is believed to help reduce wrinkles and soften the skin with an increase in elasticity and skin tightening.

arnica extract.

arnica is believed to stimulate the circulation, which in turn helps to reduce swelling, decrease bruising, and repair damaged skin.

rosehip seed oil.

rosehip seed oil contains high levels of essential fatty acids which are not found within the human body. rosehip seed oil is a natural source of trans-retinoic acid, and has been shown to provide benefits similar to those of retinoic acid, including increased collagen and elastin production and decreased damage secondary to photo-aging. 

sea buckthorn seed oil.

sea buckthorn seed oil is harvested from the seeds contained in the berries of deciduous shrubs found in Europe and Asia. the berries are rich in vitamins A, B₁, B₁₂, C, E, and K; flavonoids, lycopene, carotenoids, and phytosterols. the oil contains a near 1:1 ratio of linolenic (omega-3) and linoleic (omega-6) acids. clinical studies have demonstrated that sea buckthorn seed oil can improve skin metabolism and delay skin maturation while reducing the damaging effects of the sun.

can this balm be used on both the face and body?

although this balm was originally designed for use on the body, it can indeed be used anywhere that requires soothing. our guys like to use it as a beard balm, too. for the lips, we recommend our lip butter.

my balm is too soft/too hard/just right

this balm is composed of some lovely ingredients that tend to soften or liquefy when the temperature rises. if your balm is liquid or too soft, pop it into the refrigerator for an hour or so to firm it up. if it's too firm, let it rest quietly in a warm spot (such as above the refrigerator) for a bit. do not place it in the microwave or in the oven - you'll burn the delicate oils and render them ineffective. and if it's just right - all is well with the world.

how is the balm used for scars?

Dr. Naidu provides all of her surgical patients with a jar of this balm after surgery. she recommends applying it when all sutures have been removed and the incisions are beginning to heal, typically at 10-12 days following surgery. the beeswax in the balm provides an occlusive coating to the incisions which helps to seal in hydration and keep the incision moisturized. massage a small amount onto the incision twice daily and allow to absorb. don't overdo it - a little bit goes a long way.

how else can I use this balm?

we've had customers tell us they use it for stubborn dry patches of skin, as a tattoo balm, to protect freshly micro bladed brows, to occlude skin treated with lasers, and even as a beard balm.

will the essential oils in the balm irritate my incisions?

no, we've used a very small amount of essential oil to provide a gentle fragrance upon opening the jar. lemon oil is a top note and will evaporate quite quickly. lavender oil has a middle to top note and will linger a bit longer to lend a relaxing touch to the balm.
